EU budget to grow

Next year the EU will add an extra 2 per cent to its budget.  Amazing, at a time when EU countries are either in or about to fall into recession, with austerity programmes being ushered in or already in place in many of the EU nations.

The EU budget commissar said:

"There is now a serious risk that the European Commission will run out of funds in the course of next year, and will therefore not be able to honour all its financial obligations towards beneficiaries of EU fund."

Sounds like a  threat.  I am sure savings can be made to the staffing budget and by delaying masses of new regulations.  As an example: how much has it cost to produce this?

A browse through this website will identify numerous activities which could be scrapped.
