Detailed planning is under way for a second runway at Gatwick which will double capacity.

How will the transport infrastructure serving Gatwick cope? As far as rail is concerned, it won't. The Brighton Main Line is near to full capacity now, indeed it can be argued it is at full capacity. The case for the alternative route via Uckfield to relieve congestion grows daily.
