The belief that Cameron snatched defeat from the jaws of victory as the 2010 general election is at the root of the Conservative Home website's promotion of ideas about how the party could win an overall majority at the next general election and be rid of the irksome Liberal Democrats.
The influence of the Liberal Democrats on the government is a constant source of discontent within the Conservative Party, both at Westminster and in the country.
The EU debate, the cause of so much deep division in the past, continues to fragment the party. I have added two links: one to the views of Lord Heseltine, the other to Boris Johnson's opinions. No convergence of opinion there.
The party is divided over the proposal for a High Speed railway line between London and Birmingham. The proposed route runs through many Conservative held constituencies. The MPs, either responding to constituents views or fearful of electoral consequences, are in rebellious mood.
