A bit of a to-do.

Cranbrook proclaims itself to be The Capital of the Weald of Kent. It is part of the Borough of Tunbridge Wells. The Borough Council's offices are in Royal Tunbridge Wells, but until recently the Council had offices in Cranbrook.
When the Council closed the Cranbook offices as an economy measure it had to decide what to do with the building or the land on which it stood. At this juncture Cranbrook residents and organisations came forward with proposals for the building which did not find favour with the Borough Council. Much ink has been spilt and bad feeling generated over the issue, but significantly the electorate of Cranbrook has continued to return Conservatives as their councillors.

Step forward Councillor Sean Holden who represents Cranbrook and is according to the Council's website 'in the property business'. He has castigated the Council (and hence his fellow Conservative councillors) for spending £300,000 to set up a company with developer John Laing to regenerate council owned sites in the borough and refusing to say on what the money has been spent. There are mutterings from Cllr Holden about lack of transparency.
