Not a good start

The Liberal Democrats is the party with the largest number of councillors on Tunbridge Wells Borough Council but is well short of a majority.

The Lib Dems need the support of the Alliance if it wishes to form a stable administration.  A deal with Labour and the three independents is another option.

The Lib Dem leader states negotiations are being held with other parties.  The leader of the Alliance states there has been no approach from the Lib Dems.  Not a good start.  Hardly inspires confidence

Local Elections Tunbridge Wells

The anticipated results came to pass although there were one or two surprises. In Paddock Wood Ray Moon won a seat for Labour.  He has been contesting seats for many years and no-one should begrudge him his victory.

Elsewhere the results were much as expected. The Green Party did well in Broadwater. The seat was won by the Liberal Democrats, the retiring mayor coming a poor third for the Conservatives.

We have a hung council (I prefer this to the stupid Lib Dem balanced council). The Liberal Democrats have 16 out of the 48 seats. Although Labour will make a lot of noise the significant issue is how the Liberal Democrats and the Alliance relate.
